Twin Cities Chamber of Commerce
Welcome to the vibrant Twin Cities of South Fulton, Tennessee, and Fulton, Kentucky
Where two states converge in a unique blend of city governance and educational systems! The Fulton Independent School District operates independently, while South Fulton Schools are integrated within the Obion County Tennessee school system.
Situated near the picturesque Kentucky Lake and Reelfoot Lake, this region serves as a haven for outdoor enthusiasts.
Founded in 1929 by the esteemed B.F. Carr, Fulton once earned the title of the "Banana Capital of the World." Prior to the advent of refrigerated rail cars, an astounding 90 percent of bananas imported to the United States were routed through Fulton for cooling. Our railroads remain active, moving some 2,000 cars through our yards each day.
Additionally, we have successfully diversified our economy, thriving in sectors such as automotive parts, portable buildings, specialty trailers, and plastics. Notably, our community is also home to one of the largest mechanical contracting firms in the nation.
In 2023, Fulton, Kentucky, established a partnership with a local non-profit organization dedicated to enhancing community strength and improving overall quality of life through initiatives that promote job creation, small business ownership, and home ownership. This collaboration has led to the construction of new homes and the opening of several new businesses, which we are excited to witness.
I hope this brief overview of our wonderful community makes you feel welcome. Should you have any questions or wish to engage in conversation, please do not hesitate to reach out!
